Asia Cup 2023 update
The 2023
Asia Cup, also referred to as the Super 11 Asia Cup for sponsorship reasons, marks the 16th edition of this prestigious event. The tournament will feature One Day Internationals (ODIs) and is set to be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Six teams will compete for the title in August and September 2023. Sri Lanka enters as the defending champions. This Asia Cup is notable as it's the first to be jointly hosted by multiple countries. Pakistan will host four matches, while Sri Lanka will host the remaining nine.
The tournament featured the participation of the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Joining them is Nepal, who secured their spot by winning the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup, making their debut in the ACC Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) finalized the tournament's dates and format in January 2023, as part of their pathway structure and calendar for 2023 and 2024. Originally slated for 2021, the tournament was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fixture list for the event was unveiled on July 19, 2023.
